Location: Cohen Children's Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY
Conversion of existing Pediatric ICU into new Stem Cell Transplant / Immunosuppressed Patient Room bed unit: this suite is being constructed to replace the existing Bone Marrow Transplant Unit on the same floor, a unit that has been in service since its completion over 30 years ago. Private toilets are being constructed between every two patient rooms, one per patient bed, directly accessible off each room. Each room has been designed to meet code requirements for a Protective Environment room with one upgraded to function as a combined AII/PE room. Extensive modifications to the unit’s mechanical systems were required for compliance with current codes.
Existing patient care, staff support and family waiting areas from the original unit have been maintained.
